When I got to college, that’s when I had been introduced to and met so many beautiful women of color who were also like-minded. The main thing we all had in common was that we wanted to look good as much as we could. Of course we had our normal college look days (sweats/jeans and a hoodie/t-shirt with a hat), but we were always looking forward to an event, party, or even meetings for professional reasons. No matter what we had going on, we always made sure one another was well put together.
In the midst of this, I was still blogging and even started posting various styled outfits for inspo and discussion. I became intrigued with the amount of feedback I was getting; most expressing concerns about enhancing their wardrobe to reflect some of the styles I had been posting. So the more we talked about it, I came to realize that the problem wasn’t being able to buy the “right” pieces, but more about keeping a well-organized wardrobe in order to understand your style as you grow.
Even though I’ve always had a strong connection with clothing, it made sense for me to understand that at that moment because we were all experiencing it. Going from a high school wardrobe to a college wardrobe is a big shift for some and a slight adjustment for others (especially considering the size of a college dorm wardrobe). Aside from college, every woman endures changes and challenges in her bodies, confidence and wardrobes over a period of time; which brings the challenge of keeping a well-organized wardrobe with a clear view of your style. THIS is the reason the Style Hive came to life to continue the growth of Select Styles by Starr.

Let’s drive back to that past, down Select Styles Ave.
"The launch took place in the summer of 2016 while I was studying abroad in Barcelona and Berlin. I didn’t realize it, but it was the perfect time to launch Select Styles by Starr online and to further the creative process of its development because I was in a new, vibrant atmosphere surrounded by so many other creative individuals."
